There are many relaxing things you can do in November before the Christmas season starts...
You can finish all the trick-or-treat candies,
you can watch the Harry Potter series again and again (it's never enough!),
you can read the last new chick-lit novel (ok guys, also thrillers!),
you can go outside and let your dog jump in leaves,
or if you aren't so sporty, you can go just leaf-peeping (that's the official term of looking at fall leaves)!
But what I prefer more than anything else in November is still eating pumpkins... I could eat this deliciously sweet honeyed flesh every day.. It's pumpkin season just till December! And there are so many sweet must-try recipes, such as pumpkin scones, bread, chai tea, rolls, pies, muffins, donuts and more!
Apart pumpkin, there's a hidden ingredient that these seasonal recipes have in common... It's PUMPKIN PIE SPICE! That's what English people call it! A mix of few fall and winter spices that we can easily make at home.
That's the recipe:
PUMPKIN PIE SPICE
- 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoons ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
On Sundays I also prepare a syrup from the pumpkin flesh and I combine it with this fantastic spice mix. Starbucks calls it "PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE"! Don't look at me like this... You should try! It's just a spiced coffee with double cream and real pumpkin syrup! Delicious!
Try this recipe and you'll become addicted to it!
PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE
Pumpkin syrup
- 1 small pumpkin
- 400ml maple syrup (or honey)
- few cups of pumpkin pie spice
- 2 shots of caffè espresso
- 6 tbsp pumpkin syrup
- 1 tbsp of double cream
Mix the pumpkin puree with all the other ingredients in a saucepan and stir them while bringing to the boil, and cook for further 10 minutes. Strain the mix through a fine sieve.
Prepare the coffee and add 6 tablespoons of the syrup into it. Whip the cream and add it to the top.
Then sprinkle the ground pumpkin pie to garnish... Perfect!
